On the left is John Means. A good friend to Fishy Business John
provides a quality fly fishing experience for both full and half day
trips. If you're interested in learning how to fly fish or just
want to get better at what you already know John can help you out.
Mel Hurd as his bio says has been fly fishing for a long time.
What his bio doesn't say is just how good at it he is. Mel's
experience make him one of the best people to around to teach beginners
what they need to know to become a successful fly fisher. Along
with his guiding, Mel teaches fly casting classes for the shop and also
has put together a fantastic intermediate fly tying class. Give us
a call and book some time on the water with either of our two guides and
you'll learn why we think they're the best.
Below are some guides that we recommend for conventional
tackle, saltwater and fishing on the Olympic Peninsula. Be sure to
click on the banners to check out their web sites.

Mel Hurd
A resident of the Olympia area since 1971, Mel Hurd
has been an avid fly angler for over 40 years. Since picking up the fly
rod, Mel has fished extensively throughout Washington State, as well as
British Columbia and Montana. He has a special passion for pursuing
coastal cutthroat and both resident and migratory salmon in South Puget
Sound.
In addition to being an experienced fly fisherman,
Mel has provided formal instruction in various aspects of the sport for
about 30 years, to include: fly tying, fly casting, introduction to fly
fishing and aquatic entomology. He is also a licensed guide,
specializing in on-the-water instruction.
