ONE ON ONE INSTRUCTION
Don't want to be in a class with other people?  Maybe you already know how to cast but can't seem to master the single or double haul.  If either of these situations apply to you then one on one instruction may be just what you're looking for.  Our top notch casting instructor Mel Hurd is now offering individual instruction.  At $60 an hour this is a great way to get beginner instruction or the help improve the skills you already have.

HALF DAY FLY FISHING INSTRUCTIONAL
Spend 4 hours with one of Fishy Business' professional guides getting one on one attention learning how to fish moving water.  There are many techniques necessary to being successful when fishing a river.  Learning how to properly manipulate your line on the water to get your fly to drift the way fish want it presented is a tough thing to master on your own.  Take the years of trial and error out of the process and have it taught to you in just a short amount of time.  Reading the water is another import part of being successful in river fishing.  Fishy Business guides are masters at their craft and will spend the time to teach you what they've learned over their long Fly Fishing careers.  Bug/Fly selection is a hard thing to figure out but our guides make the decision less of a guessing game and more of a scientific approach to success.  Instructional classes are normally held on the Deschutes River so it's close by and can be done at almost any time of the year.  Class times are scheduled to your convenience.  They can be done any day of the week and can start either in the morning or afternoon.  Fishy Business provides all the equipment so all you need is to show up for the class and we'll get you started. Fishy Business Instructors prefer to go out one on one but can accommodate two people in certain situations.  If a two person trip is desired, both people must be able to cast with confidence.  Cost for the instructional is $125 for one person or $200 for two.  Call Fishy Business during regular business hours to sign up.

CATCH A FISH INSTRUCTIONAL
We've teamed up with Nisqually Valley Fly Fishing to offer a great day on the water.  The day starts with an hour or so of casting instruction before hitting the water to work on catching fish.  We then spend approximately 1 more hour with you teaching the technique necessary to hook and land some of the big rainbow trout that swim the pond.  After that you've got a little while left to stay and practice what you've learned.  Flies for the instructional are provided but it's recommend that you stop by the shop first to pick up some flies to use after your guide has left.  This is a truly fantastic way to get you first fish on a fly rod or just to bone up on the techniques you already know.  Pricing on this great day is $125 for one person or $200 for two.  Call Fishy Business during regular business hours to sign up.

FLY FISHING FOR CHUM ON SALTWATER BEACHES
This is a hands on class where you’ll be introduced to some of the most productive flies and the techniques used to catch these hardest fighting of all Pacific salmon.  Pound for pound their strength is incredible. 

Myself (Tom Bolender) and Mel Hurd (local saltwater guru) will take up to 10 students to a beach in Allyn Washington. 

                   Requirements for the class are:
                   Ø      Ability to cast at least 50 feet
                   Ø      8-10 weight rod*
                   Ø      Floating, intermediate sink tip or full intermediate sink line with at least 100 yards of
                            backing. 

* We do have a few rods that we can loan for the class, so don’t let that stop you.  Rods are on a first come, first serve basis.
